As I mentioned in my previous post, I love 70s/80s music and of course, this also includes Queen. Needless to say, I pricked up my ears and dilated my eyes when I saw the trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody in the cinema for the first time (I watched it five times, during the film previews before Mamma Mia). When the movie came out, I asked my cousin if she'd like to watch it with me and she agreed. The tickets in my local cinema are very cheap compared to other theatres. Even though they only cost 5,99€, I haven't seen the cinema auditorium this full before. There were only 4 or 5 free seats left, even though the movie was out for two weeks already.
The movie itself was a blast. I'm aware that much of it is inaccurate or not in chronological order, but who cares? It's not a documentary, it's a biopic - and it's epic! Even though I always liked Queen, I can't stop listening to their songs now. I love how movies like Bohemian Rhapsody or Mamma Mia bring back the good old music, not only for old fans! As for me, I don't really care for actors or singers in general, except for their movies and songs, of course. However, Bohemian Rhapsody, or better said Freddie Mercury, inspired me in terms of fashion. This man is the epitome of flamboyance, something I aspire to be. He embraced his personality with his clothing, played with gender norms and gave a shit about people's opinion on his looks. If that's not goals, I don't know what is??? After leaving the cinema, being inspired by this fashion icon, I decided to do the same. Don't get me wrong, since I started working, I removed almost all my black and boring clothing from my wardrobe - literally all that's left is pink, lilac and red.
So, what did I do? I got myself some bits I always wanted but never got as I was too scared to wear them in public. Well, fuck off. These times are over. I will wear my fake fur jackets with pride. I will stop buying uncomfortable jeans just because they make me look thin. I will wear my gold leather jacket and rock them with my Docs. My confidence will be my new fashion accessory. And I don't care if people think I'm pregnant just because I'm wearing dungarees. I will wear what makes me feel good.
Quote of the Day: "I dress to kill, but tastefully." -Freddie Mercury
