Here we go again ✨

A while ago, I wrote a post about things I'm looking forward to in 2018. It's unbelievable but in just a few days, it's November which means once the clock strikes midnight on the 31th October, then Halloween will end and bam - Christmas carols everywhere. So basically, the year is almost over. Let's see what this year has brought me so far.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the movie "Mamma Mia! Here we go again". Never in my life have I ever seen a movie more than once in cinema - until Mamma Mia. Mum and me saw the trailer in the commercials when we went to watch Love, Simon. As we loved Lily James since Cinderella came out, we decided to give the movie a try - the best decision we could have ever made. The fact that we watched it five times in cinema, including one time in an expensive cinema that showed the sing along version on a wednesday night even though we both had to wake up at 5'o'clock in the next morning, says A LOT about how much we love it. Like, seriously. It's not like we just like the movie, no, we love and adore and worship it. The first time we watched it was in the beginning of August and since then, the soundtrack became part of our everyday life. I would have never imagined that a movie that is not from Disney would mean this much to me. During the darkest time of my life, Mamma Mia was the only thing that helped me to escape from reality while it was airing (even though I was crying during "My love my life" but everyone who doesn't cry during that scene has no heart and that's a fact, sorry I don't make the rules). The cast is the most perfect one in the history of television. Lily James, Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep together are the holy trinity of actresses and I'm sorry for everyone who hasn't got a crush on them. ALSO CHER! LIKE. IT'S CHER. No need to say more. I love every single second in this movie and I can't wait until the DVD comes out so that mum and me can watch it like there is no tomorrow.

I had a rough day when having my mid-exams. My concentration was on it's lowest point but I managed to write one of the best exams in my year, so that's a good thing. However, when I came home this day, something I've been dreaming of for years has happened.
My very first ship ever was Marceline and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time, also known as Bubbline. Ever since I started watching Adventure Time, which was around 2013, I shipped them. They were my first OTP and together with NozoEli, still my favourite to this day. Over the years, there were so many signs that they loved each other, e.g. PB wearing Marcy's shirt and smelling it, Marcy's dream in Stakes, Slow Dance, etc. They belonged to each other, I knew it from the first moment and never lost hope. In the end, the wait was worth it. I'm sad that Adventure Time ended, after all it's been a part of my life for over 5 years but THEY KISSED. THEY KISSED IN THE FINALE. Now I can rest in peace. Thank you.

Talking about cartoons, Steven Universe was a roller coaster ride of emotions this year. The big reveal that Rose is actually Pink Diamond, the wedding, White Diamond.. I didn't expect the show to become even better but there it goes. Rebecca is unstoppable and I can't wait for the new episodes even if it will take another 654964516 years until they come out.

Something I started this year is collecting Funko Pops. I'm still not sure if it was a good idea as a) I have no money b) no space and c) most of the ones I want are sold out or only available for horrendous prices on ebay. My friend Becci gave me the "I'm just your problem"-Marceline for my birthday last year. After the finale of Adventure Time, it felt wrong that my Marcy Funko was without her girlfriend, so I ordered PB. By now, I have those two, Pearl, Pink Diamond is on her way, both Rapunzels, Tamatoa, Moana, Cinderella 2015 and Cinderella 1950 Funko Pops. My wishlist is never ending and I wonder if it's possible to get all of them without selling a kidney. We'll see!

On a brighter note, we booked our next trip to Disneyland Paris! My parents, our dog Magic and me will be there from 27th to 31st December. All of us need the magic right now and we can't wait to be back at home. The only thing I'm worrying about are our outfits as we love disneybounding, which is incredibly hard when it's freezing cold. Crossing my fingers for some nice corduroy dungarees in pastel pink or lilac by Lucy & Yak, my favourite brand right now. If they decided to give Mary Poppins a meet and greet spot in the studios because of the upcoming movie, I would love to disneybound her jolly holiday outfit as a winter version too.

Talking about Mary Poppins returns, the trailer finally came out! It's so good, oh my gosh, really can't wait to watch it with mum! I'm worrying for my wallet as I feel there will be a lot of new merchandise and I can't resist Mary Poppins.. And then there is also Ralph Breaks the Internet, definitely another dream come true. As everybody knows, I love the princesses so much and seeing them all together, including the Frozen sisters, in one movie, is just incredible. Basically all I've ever wished for to happen in a Disney movie.

And last but not least, the Handmaid's Tale. The second season left me breathless. The first season is a masterpiece and so is the second. Everyone working on the series made an extraordinary job, no matter if it's the producers, the writers, the costume designers or the actors. Show me one other show that makes their viewers cry because women introduce themselves in a supermarket. The scenery was beautiful and eerie at the same time, just as always. I watched every single moment with excitement and had to stop several times to collect my thoughts. Intense is probably the right word for it. I also loved the new characters this season, even if I have to admit that Commander Lawrence scared the hell out of me before we saw his "true face". The cast of The Handmaid's Tale is so convincing, talented and brilliant. Blessed be this show!

This year I went to my first Bookfair and it was so much more than I wished it would be!As mentioned in my previous post, I went as a Handmaid. Collecting all pieces for the costume was exhausting, not gonna lie. It was much more expensive then I thought it would be but every cent was worth it! At first, nobody seemed to recognise me - most Germans probably thought I was part of a cult. It was SO hot this day but I was so proud of the outcome so I didn't take off my scarf, gloves, wings, etc. Once I entered the building with the international publishers, my day became a blast! I got so many compliments, people asked me for pictures, I talked to many people from different countries about the book and the show and this wasn't even the highlight of the day. I was walking past the Insight Editions booth when I stopped after I saw the cover of "The Art and Making of The Handmaid's Tale". Suddenly a man run up to me, who turned out to be Steve Jones, the director of subsidiary rights. He grabbed his colleague and said that I'd totally win the price for the best costume. Then he asked me to pose for a picture, holding The Art and Making of The Handmaid's Tale. After he took the picture, he invited me to take a look in the book. It wasn't finished yet but I loved what I see so far. We talked for a while and then he gave me his business card. I can't wait until the book comes out! A few steps later, I walked past the booth of GMC Publications when I was asked to pose for a picture with the Sparknotes Literature Guide for The Handmaid's Tale. I had a great talk with Gary and his colleague and even got the guide for free! All in all, it was the perfect day and I had a lot of fun. See you next year, Frankfurt Bookfair!
